The Fuzzies

We had a big family project this morning. Any thoughts on what exactly Dad is building here?

It's a hotel for the "Fuzzies" that E made, of course!

Butterflies with my Beauty

We've started a new tradition in our home. My husband and I are taking our children out individually during their birthday month. They get to pick the activity. E chose rock climbing with her Dad and chose the Butterfly Pavilion with me (which we visited today). Having read most of The Five Love Languages, by Gary Chapman, E's love language is DEFINITELY quality time. She was beaming all afternoon and would often hug me and remind me how special this time was for her. She is a precious, loving, intelligent and witty little girl who has my heart completely!

We were both taking pictures today

It was amazing to see how playful butterflies can be. This Blue Morpho kept pestering the poor fella (another Blue Morpho) who had been sitting in that same spot for over an hour. Perhaps that was the issue–peer pressure!

A Weekend with Friends

A friend of mine came with her husband and 5 boys to spend the weekend with us down at the lake. I have never before seen such well behaved, intelligent, courteous, well mannered and charming little kids. Seriously. Their mother is unbelievable. She is a completely selfless, patient, gentle--yet strong, encouraging, nurturing, engaged mother. I watched her every move to try to soak up as much of her mothering riches as I could. Imagining those little boys as grown men gives me so much hope for the future. My friend is going to be one adored and appreciated mother!

I must mention that they also have a wonderful and engaged father. He knows his boys well and loves them dearly.

Can you say, expressive???

This is the oldest helping his brother out of the pool. This went on all weekend. If there was a need, it was met by someone. Truly beautiful to see.

Lemonade!

So, the girls (and a little neighbor friend) decided to have a lemonade stand. After discussing the business end of things, I asked them to where they wanted their proceeds to go. They were tossing around a few options (The Lord's Pantry--a wonderful organization that feeds needy people every Saturday, church, or to Haiti--which they still talk about quite frequently). The consensus was Haiti. They raised $23! After we came back in, they asked again to see photos on the internet of Haiti. They are so proud and are sure that the money they raised is going to help the people of Haiti. What a great lesson in love!

Heal the world one lemon at a time!

Oh, it was a hot, hot day! Little V was finished.

My Big Girl

Can hardly believe my little girl is already 3 1/2. She's so independent, quick witted and expressive. Her confidence is a little shocking at times, but it will come in handy some day :) This precious child brings so much joy to our family!

ABOUT ME and POWDERED SUGAR PHOTOGRAPHY

I see in photographs. With 4 precious tikes under foot, I'm constantly taking mental snapshots of their cuteness. Many times, however, I am able to grab my camera and capture those sweet moments forever.

It is a privilege for me to capture those moments for others.
